The Open Water Diver course is the most popular entry-level scuba certification program, designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to dive independently with a buddy.
Online Learning
Start with digital resources that cover essential theoretical knowledge, such as:
- Diving principles, including buoyancy and pressure.
- Equipment setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Dive planning, safety procedures, and underwater communication.
This self-paced learning ensures you're well-prepared for the practical sessions.
Confined Water Sessions
After completing the theory, you'll practice in a controlled environment like a swimming pool. Under the guidance of your instructor, you'll:
- Learn essential scuba skills, such as mask clearing, regulator retrieval, and buoyancy control.
- Practice emergency procedures, including air-sharing techniques.
- Build confidence in a safe and supportive setting.
These sessions are designed to prepare you for open water dives.
Open Water Dives
The course includes four open water dives, where you'll:
- Apply the skills learned in confined water sessions.
- Gain experience in real-world diving conditions, such as lakes or oceans.
- Explore the underwater environment while practicing safe diving techniques.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the Open Water Diver course, you'll earn a globally recognized certification that allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet). This qualification opens the door to a lifetime of underwater exploration and further diving education.
